Norman was an incredibly gracious and generous person who cared about people. I was sad to hear of his death and wanted to say that our lives were blessed by his in so many ways. We were missionaries in South America for 32 years and are grateful for Norman's prayers and support. When we were in the US on Home Assignment Norman made sure that we had good affordable car insurance even though we had been living outside of the country for several years and were supposedly a "high risk" that no one was willing to insure. It was always a joy to talk with him on the phone and to get caught up on how his family was doing. May he rest in peace and may the Lord comfort his family as they mourn their loss and celebrate his life. He will be missed.

Cousin Ulla, her sons Anders and Jonas with families
We send our condolences to Joyce and the Olson family. We remember Norman for his great generosity, strong character and his great smile. The hospitality and warmth he showed to us when we first visited Chicago and the US almost thirty years ago, will always be remembered. The joy was great when cousins Norman and Ulla got to meet in Chicago. Norman showed us around town to the places where our father and grandfather Hilding (brother to Norman’s father Gunnar) had lived and worked. The evening drives along Lake shore Drive, narrated by Norman, seeing the lit skyline of Chicago left strong memories on two teenage Swedes.

We are honored to have met Norman through the marriage of our daughter Amanda to our son-in-law Pete. Very blessed to have the pleasure of spending some time with a very kind and thoughtful man who we grew to love ourselves. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Olson family during this very difficult time.

Cornelius "The African Swedish Viking"
I did not know Norman for a very longtime but for the short period that i did , he officially gave me my Swedish passport and made me the very first existing African Viking warrior. Norman always knew how to make one laugh and could always light up a room full of tired looking people. Norman I count myself as a very lucky person to have joined your family of 60 children both in Evergreen Park and Oak forest before the lord asked you to start your eternal life. Norman the stormin viking is no longer stormin the sees but now the sky watching over his extended family in the land of the mortals. Norm i will always remember the bear hug i gave you from the back, it was a very warm moment that put a big smile on our faces. Happy belated birthday for your rebirth into the eternal life. You will be missed

I did not know Norman for a long time but the time I did was fun. I met him for the first time at our White Elephant Christmas party in Evergreen Park office. Every time he would call to look for Jeff O and Lynn he would have some funny conversations with me and thank me for finding them for him he will me missed.

I will never forget how Norman would always say ''Thank you for all that you do for me and may God Bless you and your family". It always made me feel good and appreciated for what I did. He was a wonderful person to know. His positivity will always be in our hearts. Till we meet again

I knew Norman at the end of his working career. Even transitioning into retirement, his business sense shone through. He would still come into the office on weekends, make follow up phone calls to check on opportunities for his friend Len, and ask for client lists with the intention of calling those who’s accounts were set to renew that month.

Our fathers, Tage and Gunnar, came here together from Sweden when they were 19 & 20 years old. Gunnar, Norman's father married first and had one child, Norman. Four years later my dad, Tage, married and had one child, me. Our two families were always close, as Norm and I grew up on the south side of Chicago. I was always the little cousin that Norm had to take around with him when our two families visited which was about once a week when we were growing up. I don't think he was ever too happy about it but always did it with a smile. As we both grew older and had families of our own we became closer and became more like brothers than cousins. I, and my family, will greatly miss him!
