Thomas More Galvin

Thomas More Galvin, age 60, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23, 2026 with his loving family—wife Cheryl (Wronkiewicz) and daughter Megan—beside him.

Tom was the proud father of his daughter Megan. He was the youngest of six, from St. Thomas More Parish in Chicago, before moving to Louisiana as a child. He was a loving brother to John (Wati), Paul (Elizabeth), Mark (Joanne), the late Gerard, and the late Mary Ruth (Nick Kelne). Thomas was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Galvin and Harrietta (Fritzenschaf) Galvin.

Thomas graduated from St. Paul High School and Louisiana Tech University in Louisiana. Tom was an exceptional athlete and a staunch supporter of the Chicago Bears, Bulls, and White Sox. However, basketball was his true passion. He played in the NCAA tournament in 1984 at Louisiana Tech University. Tom continued his passion for basketball by playing on numerous teams and proudly coaching his daughter’s basketball teams.

Tom loved his career as an electrician and was a proud member of Local 134. There was no power tool he did not believe was worth the investment and he spent his free time working on construction and woodworking projects.

Fondly referred to as the “Mayor of Plum Tree,” Tom dedicated himself to helping friends and neighbors. He was a popular neighbor in Orland Park, where he walked his dog, Oso, daily, speaking to friends, neighbors and anyone who would talk to him.

Visitation Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 3-8 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at St. Michael Church, 14327 Highland Ave., Orland Park, IL on Friday, August 28, 2026 for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment private.
