Miss Suhanek was my 6th grade teacher for a few weeks. She was the strictest teacher I had up to that point at McCormick Elementary and I was terrified of failing to please her so I followed her orders to perfection. After the two weeks were over, she transferred me to a 7th grade class and told my mother I was too smart for her class. So I basically skipped 6th grade and had to leave the friends I had since kindergarten. It’s a memory I still have to this day. She devoted a lifetime to teaching children and I’m sure many of us grew up and benefited from her style of education. May she Rest In Peace.
