In memorial - George Sapulich - Chicago

The next phase of his life started with a move to Chicago. There he met Barbara Barzack and knew immediately that she was the one for him. He had actually been brought to Barbara's family home, by her brother in law Louie, who hoped George might be a match for another of Barbara's sisters. But George knew his own heart, and it was drawn instead to Barbara. He was on target, for their marriage would last the rest of his life. George built a life for himself and his family remaining in Chicago, always overcoming setbacks, always finding a path that would work for him. In the 50's a back injury ended his career at the Jewel where he had met Louie. He recovered after back surgery and became an auto mechanic, soon owning his own gas station. Later, he left his business to become a maintenance mechanic and that was the profession he maintained for the remainder of his working life.
