I'll never forget when I accompanied Craig to traffic court after he received a ticket for going 99 MPH on the Stevenson Expressway one late night (he was going faster but the cop didn't want to ruin him). When he stood before the judge (judge with his head down) and was asked "How do you plea?
In his lowest pitched voice Craig responded, "I plead not guilty and I would like to ask for court supervision."
Without lifting his head the judge responded "Denied!"
Craig's head sunk lower than I ever saw it before. We never knew if he had plead guilty and asked for supervision whether or not it would have been granted. I was there as his friend and to cheer him up so I bought him lunch.
I worked with Craig at Jewel and attended UIC with him for a while. I lost touch with Craig, but re-connected through Facebook back in 2014. Even though we never reconnected face to face, I still appreciate the time that he was my friend in correspondence. My prayers are for his family and friends.
