One of our many fond memories of Uncle Gene and Aunt Vi demonstrates their generosity and kindness. Jeff was laid off (again) from the auto industry and having a young family to support, things were pretty tight. Gene & Vi came to town to visit Ted & LaVerne and dropped by our house.
Gene called Jeff out to the car to help unload “something “. The trunk, and cars had big trunks back then, was filled with groceries. Several big bags filled with all the necessities a growing family needed and some treats that we could ill afford.
Every time I think of this, it brings tears to my eyes. The thoughtfulness, the kindness and the need they filled at a very trying time in our young lives was selfless and caring.
We try to “pay if forward “for others, having firsthand knowledge how an unexpected, random act of kindness can mean so much.
Thanks Gene, we are keeping the good memories safe in our hearts, ‘Till we meet again.
Love,
Jeff & Dianne
