Condolences

Condolence From: John Ruane
Condolence: Dear Dee:
My belated condolences to you on the passing of Dave. I'm very sorry. I have thought of him many times and was hoping for one last visit now that we have moved back to the area. He was always very nice to me and we shared many fun times and experiences on those car rides from the southwest side to the Sun-Times building, before stepping into the craziness of the newspaper business. I can tell you that everyone who ever worked with Dave really liked him and thought of him as a great Prep writer, bowling writer and the dependable scribe at the Dog Show each year. Also, I knew of his great love for growing those rose bushes in your yard. He always spoke with such great admiration and love for you and your dedication to the teaching profession. Stay strong as you continue a transition period of your life that I'm sure isn't easy. Love John

Condolence: Margaret O'Boye and I offer our condolences to Diane on the passing of Dave. He was the nicest, kindest and most considerate person we ever had the pleasure of knowing. My earliest rememberances of Dave was tagging along with my brother in law and dave's dad Charlie when they went bowling on Friday nights. Dave would always give me 50 cents to satisfy my sugar/candy needs. As a prep sportwriter there was never anyone better.

Dave Manthey...a kind and gentle soul. The world just lost a GREAT human being.

Condolence: Words should not fail those of us who like to think we are writers. But at times like this, they do. Put simply, Dave was a wonderful human being. A true delight to be around. It was an honor to be his co-worker at the Sun-Times. It was a far greater honor to be his friend. Dave's presence on the planet made the world a better place. Condolences to his lovely bride and to all who loved him (which would be just about everyone who had the good fortune to know him). We will miss you, Mr. Mane, and keep your kindness and the many marvelous memories that you provided in our hearts forever.
