She provided the light that would lead me to a great rewarding career

Betty Niquette was the instructor in the computer lab at Bloom Trail in the mid 80's(I am from Graduating Class 1988). I was a student in the school, and would spend many study halls in the lab learning about computers, programming, and eventually computer networking. She allowed me to become a unofficial "teachers aid". She let me try and experiment with ideas, which eventually became technologies of today. One program I created was a "chat" program between the main computer and another one. We used the cassette interface, and chatted about a girl in a adjacent row (I was 15). The other computer lab was deployed with the new Model 4 TRS 80's, and this is where I cut my teeth on computer networking. In 1984 I observed sharing of files from a central location, shared printing, and working with Disk Operating Systems. Today I am a very successful network engineer and administrator. I wish I could have thanked her for the inspiration, enlighten, and opportunity.
