Yvonne Borkhuis

Yvonne L. Borkhuis, nee Bergmark, age 82, of Palos Heights, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Yvonne succumbed after a 60-year battle with multiple sclerosis. She exhibited great strength throughout her life and was a genuinely positive and kind person who cared deeply for family. In later years, her nurses and aides provided wonderful home care and they said that she was their favorite patient. She was a life-long member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago. Yvonne was a teacher by profession who loved teaching 6th graders. She also was an expert at solving the daily Jumble puzzles in the newspaper. She is dearly missed by all who knew her.

Cherished wife of Edward Borkhuis. Loving mother of John Borkhuis. Beloved aunt of Ann Walker, Kristen (Joseph) Falese and David Bergmark. Preceded in death by her parents Gosta and Florence (Peterson) Bergmark and her brother Rev. Glenn (MariLynn) Bergmark.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 28, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel. Interment private.
