Yolanda Alvarez, age 76, beloved daughter of Benito Alvarez and Esperanza Sosa. Adored mother of Erika Alvarez, Jimmy Alvarez and Brenda (Lee Underwood) Alvarez. Cherished grandmother of Brandon Griffin, Alexandria Griffin, Eva Davis, Joaquin Underwood and Ida Underwood. Wife of Rudy Tapia. Dearest sister of Virginia Alvarez Sosa, Rodolfo Sosa (deceased), Sergio Sosa (deceased), Raul Garcia, and Guillermo Garcia. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews

At 25, she left her beloved México, in 1972, to carve a better life in the U.S. While not without pain and sacrifice, she created it—raising 3 beautiful children, adoring her grandchildren, and championing those who she loved deeply (albeit partial to her grandchildren!). Yolanda was the heart and soul of her family. She loved telling a good story, listening to music, singing, and eating Krispy Kremes. She was smart, funny, and unfiltered. She called out injustice to its face. Life was not always easy for her, but she never surrendered.
