Wilmer “Wil” Alven Stallinga has freely walked into the arms of his Saviour and Lord on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at the age of 97 years. Wil was the oldest of five children born to Jacob and Catherine (Bronsema) Stallinga and was born on February 19, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois. He was baptized in the First Christian Reformed Church of Chicago and after a few years on the farm became a member of the Archer Av. Christian Reformed Church where he made profession of his faith. He graduated from Chicago Christian High School and attended DeVry Technical for two years where he studied radio and television. Wil and Johanna Voss of Chicago were united in marriage in 1950 and to this union two children were born: Marcia Lynn and Dennis Wayne. Wil served four years in the United States Air Force. Wil was a proud veteran of the Air Force, having served in Japan and the Philippines during the Korean War. His time in the military instilled in him a life-long love of travel and aviation. He has been to all 50 states and also to countries abroad. Wil had a career with the United States Postal Service from 1959 until 1989 when he retired. His wife, Jo, had passed away in October, 1980. In November, 1982, he married Lois Vos of Pella, Iowa. Their leisure time enjoyment was traveling which they continued to do extensively. Lois passed away in November, 2003. Wil was the loving father of Marcia (Herm) Werkman and the late Dennis (late Dorothy) Stallinga; grandfather to Bradley (Sara) Werkman and adoring great-grandfather to Jack and Jase Werkman; dear brother of James (Jacque) Stallinga and Doris Bonnema and the late Arnold (Gert) Stallinga and Herman Stallinga. Wil was a faithful member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Throughout his life he demonstrated his strong faith and trust in his Saviour, even in the most difficult circumstances. Wil had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke with family and friends. He always had a smile for everyone.
