It is with great sadness that the family of William "Bill" Lomax, age 78, long time resident of Oak Forest, announces his passing on May 2, 2024. A loving husband to Sharyn (nee Hajduch) his wife of 44 years and wonderful father to his son Zachary. Dear brother of Shirley (late Ronald) Michalsen, the late Marjorie "Peggy" (Roy) Roe and the late Paul "Buddy" (late Karen) Lomax. Fond brother-in-law of Lynda (William) McCarthy and Rita (Alan) Levin. Dear uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews.
As a youth, Bill began singing in church. He later performed as a duo with his brother, Paul. Bill's talent evolved into a musical career as a lead singer with various show bands. After leaving the stage, he worked for the Norfolk Southern Railroad and retired after 30 years of service.
Bill kept music in his life by freelancing as a DJ and performing at various events. He gained notoriety as Bill E Lomax, "The Singing DJ," as he belted out tunes to karaoke tracks singing and dancing his way into everyone's hearts.
A born singer and an apprentice carpenter to his loving father, Bill claimed he was born with sawdust in his blood and always whistled while he worked. So, in Bill's memory, please whistle a happy tune and think of him.
