Thomas A. White, Ret. CPD Sergeant, age 90, decorated U.S. Army Veteran. Beloved husband for 64 years to the late Jacquelyn V. White, nee Gallagher. Doting father of his children Thomas A. (Nancy) White, Michael (Dawn) White, Nancy (Eduardo) Flores and the late Julia Ann White. Adored grandfather of Erin, the late Michael, Thomas, Kyle, Zachary, Bridget (Graham Martin), Joshua, Kyra (Gabe Gabriel), Hugh, Aidan and Benen. Dearest great-grandfather of Harlow Martin. Devoted son of the late Bernard and Myrtle (nee Petrosus) White. Loving brother of the late John White. Dear brother-in-law of Shirley Gallagher, Judy (late Thomas) Schoenig, Kenneth (late Patricia) Gallagher and Margaret (late Eugene) Todd. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Thomas was a committed public servant who dedicated 35 years to the Chicago Police Department. He enjoyed traveling all over the world but his favorite place was Cape Canaveral, FL where he taught his 12 grandchildren how to swim, surf and fish in the ocean. Thomas treasured his time with his family, especially Sunday dinners where Jackie would cook an Italian meal for everyone to enjoy. Thomas was a sports enthusiast who followed all the Chicago teams pre and post season--even analyzed the drafts.
It's difficult to sum up one's life and impact in a few words, but if I had to, I would describe Thomas as a lover of all cuisine, the dancer, the singer, the sports enthusiast, always with paper in hand or a good book, the two nap a day kinda guy, the painter, animal lover, the family man, a patient human, the protector, the veteran, the public servant.... Until we see those baby blue eyes again~Your Loving Family.
