Thomas W. Adams, age 69, late of Paducah, KY, formerly of Marco Island, FL and Orland Park, IL, proud US Marine Veteran, beloved husband of Margaret McGrady-Adams. Loving father of Michele (Steve) Crnich, Thomas Adams Jr., and Kathleen (Darrell) Crouch. Fond step-father of Theresa (John) Leiting, Douglas Jr. (Kelly) Ouverson, Barbara (Mike) Long, and Candy (Scott) Elsbury. Cherished grandfather of 20 and great-grandfather of one. Devoted son of the late William J. and Margaret M. Adams. Dear brother of Jack (Linda) Adams, Margaret (Robert) Jarsombeck, and Patricia (Thomas) Ellison. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews. Tom was a funeral director for 44 years in the Chicagoland area. After graduating from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, he joined his father’s funeral service business along with his brother Jack for over 20 years. He then continued as a funeral director while working for the Chicago Sun-Times as a liason between the death notice department and funeral directors. Tom was a member of the FDSA Contagious Diseases Committee at the time of the AIDS epidemic. He was very instrumental in discovering how to best protect funeral directors and embalmers from the AIDS virus. Before retiring, he worked for Adams-Winterfield-Sullivan Funeral Home.
