Ronald M. "Ron" Hansum, age 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 27, 2025 in Schererville, IN. Beloved husband of the late Virginia A. "Virg" Hansum, nee Pinkelman (2017). Loving father of Matthea Beckett, Alex (Grace) Hansum, Derek (Megan Mullen) Hansum, and Naomi (Ryan) Lorance. Cherished grandfather of Andrew, Cole, Joseph, Jacob, Ezekiel, Hezekiah, Logan, Nora, Luca and the late Jackson. Devoted son of the late Marion and Allis (nee Kuipers) Hansum. Dear brother of Dee (Lyle) Nepodal, Donn (Pamela) Hansum, Larry (Jan) Hansum, Anthony (Judy) Hansum and Eva (Randy) Hedman. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Ron Hansum was born on April 10, 1952 to Marion and Allis Hansum at the Platte Memorial Hospital. Ron attended Platte Christian Grade School, Dakota Christian High School, Dordt College and the University of South Dakota in Vermillion where he received his Masters degree in Computer Sciences.

On June 7, 1980, Ron married Virginia Pinkelman in Vermillion SD where they had met at USD. They later moved to Chicago IL where he spent his career working as the Software Services Director and part time professor at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, IL. Ron enjoyed computer sciences and was very good at IT Engineering and programming.

Ron was a faithful and active member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Burbank, IL. There he served as deacon, elder and yearly Sunday School teacher of the preschool age classes.

Ron greatly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, learning all things about trains and taking nature walks. He dealt with the increasing debilitating effects of Parkinson’s disease over the last 17 years of his life.

Visitation Friday, May 2, 2025 from 3-8 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Visitation continues Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church, 8302 Normandy Ave., Burbank, IL 60459 from 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Interment Fairmount - Willow Hills Memorial Park, Willow Springs, IL.
