Robert Alan Ettema, Sr., “Bob”, age 84, of Frankfort, IL passed away suddenly on September 6, 2021. Beloved husband to Carol (nee Sasveld) for 61 years. Loving father of Susan (Brady) Webster, Kathy (Ed) Sinwelski, Robert Jr. (Laura) Ettema, and the late Ellen (Roger) Dykstra. Cherished grandpa of Joshua (Mary Beth) Meyer, Sarah Meyer, Adam (fiancée -Candace Kay) Meyer, Jacob (Kelly) Meyer, Katie (Zack) Martens, Colin (Natasha) Ettema, Kristy Sinwelski, Joel Dykstra, Owen (fiancée- Alexis Van Ryn) Ettema, and Alaina Ettema. Dearest great-grandpa of Hannah Meyer, Eden Meyer, Jude Meyer, Selah Meyer, and Madison Meyer. Loving brother of Curtis (Linda) Ettema and the late Calvin (June) Ettema. Fond cousin and uncle to many. Loved dearly by many friends.

Bob was a lifelong farmer, who rose before dawn most days and was in the field as the sun came up. He worked for, and retired from, Thornton Equipment and also ran a farm stand with his wife, Carol, for many years. He always had a glimmer in his eye and a side grin to greet you. He was one of the most giving and hard-working men around. He loved his dogs and always had a cup of coffee in his hand.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents Nicholas & Henrietta (nee Dering) Ettema, brother Calvin Ettema and sweet daughter Ellen.

Visitation Friday, September 17, 2021 , from 3-8PM. Funeral Service Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00AM at Colonial Chapel 15525 S. 73rd Aver. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Interment Fairmount-Willow Hills Memorial Park, Willow Springs, IL.
