Robert (Bob) M. Craven, 99, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Chicago on November 12, 1925, Robert lived a life marked by faith, service, and devotion to those he loved.
A proud veteran of World War II, Robert served his country with honor and courage, carrying the lessons of sacrifice and patriotism with him throughout his life. His deep love for God was the foundation of everything he did. A steadfast Christian, Robert’s faith guided his words, actions, and relationships, and he was an inspiration to all who knew him.
Robert was married for 63 years to the love of his life, Dorothy (née Shoop) Craven, and was preceded in death by her as well as his father, Stephen, his mother, Mary (née Butler), and his daughter Patricia Genardo, who was the “apple of his eye.”
He cherished his family above all else. He was a devoted father to William (Patricia) Craven and Patricia (née Craven) Genardo, a loving grandfather to Jenell Genardo, Jorie (Keith) Kulczak, Wendy Craven, John Genardo, and Rob (Kelly) Craven, and an adored great-grandfather to Abigail, Brooke, Jackson, Allison, Ava, Tessa, Everly, Mallory, and Samantha. He was also a beloved uncle and cousin to many.
He will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his deep commitment to God, family, and friends, his gentle but strong presence, and his comedic approach to life. He was always ready to recite a daily joke or sing an Irish diddy that brought smiles to everyone around him. Robert’s legacy is one of love, faith, service, and joy—a life well lived and well loved. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
