Richard G. Wendt, age 83, of Sturgis, MI formerly of the Chicago area, US Army Veteran. Beloved husband for 59 years to Diane Wendt, nee Dykstra. Loving father of Lisa (Arben Mamaj) Wendt, David Wendt, Daniel (Nora) Wendt and the late Karl Wendt. Cherished grandfather of Connor, Bryce, and Easton. Dear brother of Ronald (Jeanene) Wendt and Dennis (Elinor) Wendt. Fond brother-in-law of Tess (late Bill) Beukema, Pearl (David) Decker, Rich (Cheryl) Dykstra, and the late David (Tricia) Dykstra. Dearest uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Richard was a graduate of Calumet High School who built a life rooted in family, faith, and service. In 1966, he married Diane Dykstra, forming a partnership grounded in commitment and shared purpose. As a self-employed professional in the computer systems field, Richard combined technical skill with entrepreneurial spirit, earning the trust of clients through reliability and thoughtful problem-solving. Family and community were central to his life. He invested deeply in his family through baseball, fishing, and music, always making time for meaningful moments together. His passion for travel broadened horizons and created lasting memories. Woodworking was also a hobby he truly enjoyed. Richard was also devoted to his church, contributing his energy and talents to the faith community and letting his faith guide his daily life. He left a warm, dependable, and generous legacy for those who knew him.
