Richard D. Carriel, age 92, US Army Korean War Veteran. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy, nee Chamberlain and the late Beverly D., nee Hughes. Loving father of Tom (Mary), Regina (Dave) Meyer, Ed (Denise), Joe, Mike (Nancy), Dave (Maria), and the late Roseanna, Steven, and Maria. Cherished grandfather of Caitlin, Julia, Robert, Sarah, Emily, Jiwon, Vito, Dominic, Anthony, and Sophia. Loving stepfather of Kim Walker, Daniel Walker, Patricia Barakat, Theresa (Steve) Mercier, Rosalio Walker and Alicia (Dean) Truemper, and ten step grandchildren, eight step great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Rose Carriel and his brothers William, Joseph, and Robert.
Richard was a dedicated member of Carpenters Union 434 for 70 years. Longtime member of Faith United Methodist Church and American Legion Orland Memorial Post #111. He enjoyed growing Peonies in his garden, and shared them with others which brought them many smiles. He was a dedicated volunteer with many charities including Park Lawn, Little Sisters of the Poor, Working Bikes, Knights of Columbus, and The Bridge Teen Center.
Visitation Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 6:30 p.m. at Colonial Chapel 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Interment private.
