It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rick De Luna, who left us too soon on September 26, 2025, in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 48.
Born on September 4, 1977, in Chicago, Rick was a man full of life, laughter, and love. He was known for his incredible sense of humor — always the one to light up a room with his jokes and storytelling. If you called Rick with a question, chances are he’d have an answer — whether it was about fixing a car, installing a sound system, or just needing guidance. He was a source of wisdom and support to so many.
Rick had a passion for cooking, and everything he made was memorable — even something as simple as a sandwich became a masterpiece. He had a unique ability to turn the ordinary into something special. His love for cars, his talent for sales, and his ease in connecting with people were just a few of the many skills that made him unforgettable.
But above all, Rick was a devoted father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving children: Destenee Amaris De Luna, Destiny Alexis Lara, Ricardo De Luna, and Camille Lara; and by his cherished granddaughters, Isabella Vera and Iris Alexis Velazquez. He also leaves behind his mother, Lillian Castillo, his father, Joey Castillo, and his siblings: Lillian De Luna, Joey Castillo, Joel De Luna, Vanessa Castillo, Demitri Castillo, and Omar Castillo.
Rick deeply loved his family. Whether he was spending quiet time alone or enjoying a lively gathering with everyone together, his presence was a comfort and a joy. He gave his whole heart to his children and was constantly striving to be the best man and father he could be.
He will be missed more than words can say, but his laughter, strength, and love will remain with all who knew him.
