Rev. Ronald W. DeYoung

June 21, 1942 — October 6, 2026

Rev. Ronald De Young was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to William and Frances. He spent most of his childhood there until moving to Shorewood, Wisconsin, at age 13.

Ron often said the best thing that ever happened to him was meeting Ruth while teaching. After marrying her, he became a minister in the Christian Reformed Church. Throughout most of his career, Ron served as a chaplain, finishing his working life as a night chaplain at Christ Hospital.

He was passionate about classical music and enjoyed reading. Ron also loved talking about his favorite vacation spot—Door County—and the many trips he and Ruth took there.

His wife Ruth passed away six years ago in 2020. Surviving loved ones include his sister, Joyce Vogel; his son Jonathan, father to his two grandchildren Annelise and Arthur, their mother, Karen Bell, daughter Joy (Steve Sweda) and son David.
