Peter B. Thomson, age 92, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022 at Downers Grove Healthcare, Downers Grove, IL. Peter passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where he is now at peace and rest.
Peter was born on May 22, 1930 in Chicago, IL, the son of Scottish emigrant parents, John and Bathia Thomson. He was the youngest of three siblings. Peter's father passed away suddenly before Peter's seventh birthday, after which he was raised solely by his mother and older siblings. Peter was raised in Chicago in a happy Christian home where the Bible was acknowledged as the Word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ was worshipped as the living Son of God and Savior.
Peter attended and graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign with a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the U.S. Army Finance Corps. Peter later worked in accounting and management with Scovell Wellington CPA, US Gypsum, Stewards Foundation, Belmont Community Hospital and later worked at the Mannheim Auto Auction.
On April 7, 1956, Peter married the love of his life, Patricia S. Kirkland and together they raised their family of four sons, John, Edward, Mark and Paul in Dolton, IL. Peter and his family enjoyed Christian fellowship at Lansing Gospel Chapel in Lansing, IL. Peter wholeheartedly and unselfishly served at Lansing Gospel Chapel for over 50 years as an elder, teacher and minister.
Peter was preceded in death by his sister Annabelle and brother Donald. He is survived by his wife Patricia Thomson of Downers Grove; sons John (Deborah) Thomson of Woodridge, IL, Edward (Betsy) Thomson of Oak Forest, IL, Mark (Lisa) Thomson of Springfield, IL and Paul (Mary Rose) Thomson of Venice, FL; six grandchildren, Scott, Anna (Kyle), Nathan, Zachary (Morgan), David and Matthew; and four great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Maddox, Ian and Ezra.
Visitation Tuesday, December 27, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 12:00 Noon at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens South, Oak Lawn, IL.
