Peter B. Greendyke, age 89, U.S. Army Veteran, beloved husband for 65 years to Dorothy J., nee Oosterhuis. Loving father of Carolyn (Jim) Van Dam, Robert (Catherine) Greendyke, and the late James P. Greendyke. Proud grandfather of JP (Stephanie Simmons) Van Dam, Victoria Van Dam, Hunter (Theresa) Van Dam, Grant Greendyke, Clark Greendyke, and Margo Greendyke. Cherished great-grandfather of Cornelius Van Dam–Simmons. Dear brother of Henny (late John) Veldman, Betty (Mike) O’Keefe, the late William (Linda) Greendyke and the late Lambert “Butch” (Janet) Greendyke. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Peter, along with his brothers, was the proud owner of NuWay Disposal. He had a great love for the outdoors, especially fishing and camping. Peter was known for his friendly spirit and for making connections wherever he went—he loved to speak with every stranger he met, always bringing kindness and interest to those he encountered. He also served as the handyman for his condo building at Hickory Bay West in Bonita Springs, Florida, where his helpfulness and reliability were greatly appreciated.
Visitation Monday, September 21, 2026 from 3:00-8:00PM. Funeral Service Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 11:00AM at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL.
