Pearl Van Vliet, 90, died on Monday, November 6, 2006 at Rest Haven Central Christian Services in Crestwood, falling asleep in the faith and hope of the gospel. Pearl was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 4, 1916, of Rudolph Vander Laan and Jeanette Bieze. Pearl was married to her beloved Theodore on August 3, 1945, who died almost exactly a year ago on November 1, 2005. They worked and volunteered at the University of Chicago Hospital. Pearl and Ted Van Vliet were active and faithful members of the Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Oak Lawn. They were preceded in death by their darling daughter Margaret Jeanette (1946-1961). She is survived by her sisters Christine (Christian) Beezhold, Henrietta Vander Laan Mallahan and sister-in-law Wilhelmia Greenfield Vander Laan; and many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss her greatly. Pearl Van Vliet will be laid to rest next to her beloved daughter and husband at Evergreen Cemetery. A memorial service and luncheon in the Calvin Christian Reformed Church of Oak Lawn will be held Monday, November 13, 2006 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. gifts in her memory may be sent to either Calvin Christian Reformed Church or Southwest Chicago Christian Schools.
