Panagiotis (Pete) Georgacopoulos

Panagiotis (Pete) Georgacopoulos, age 81, fell asleep in the Lord peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Thursday, September 22nd, 2022. Beloved and devoted husband of Panagiota (Toula) nee Kotsakis for 43 years. Loving father of Eugenia (Theodore) Kontoravdis and Chrisoula Georgacopoulos. Devoted son to the late Elias and Eugenia Georgacopoulos. A dear brother to Argiro (Gust) Gountounas, Giannis (Maria) Georgacopoulos, Nikos (the late Aggeliki) Georgacopoulos, the late George (the late Rina) Georgacopoulos, Vasiliki (the late Nick) Theodossopoulos, and Glykeria (the late Evangelos) Nikolakopoulou. Loved brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, relative, and friend to many.

He was born on May 10th, 1941 in Kalamata, Greece. Pete was a restauranteur. When he came to Chicago, he owned and operated numerous restaurants in the Chicagoland and suburban areas. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved to hunt. His genuine care for his family, friends and even those he did not know was beyond compare. He was a member of the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Illinois Hellenic Lodge #1084. As a member of philanthropic organizations, he helped to advocate and support those in need. Pete was dedicated to the church and his faith. A member at both Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Palos Hills and Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Homer Glen. He served as a Parish Council member at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church and would help both churches in any capacity he could.

Visitation for Pete Georgacopoulos will be held on Monday, September 26th, 2022 from 3p.m. to 8p.m. at Maher Funeral Home 17101 71st Avenue Tinley Park, IL 60477. Funeral service begins at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 15625 S. Bell Road Homer Glen, IL 60491. Pete will be laid to rest at Bethania Cemetery.

He will be deeply missed and remembered fondly. May his memory by eternal.
