Nancy A. Maher

March 30, 1958 — October 16, 2026

Nancy A. Maher, nee Falasz, age 68, beloved wife of 46 years to Robert H. Maher. Loving mother of John (Kim) Maher, Michael Maher, Casey (Kristina) Maher, and Molly (Ted) Walleck. Proudest grandmother of Kellen, Hayden, Emmett, Bailey, Payton, Kylie, Teddy, and James. Devoted daughter of the late John and Evelyn Falasz. Dear sister of Mike (Linda) Falasz, Sue (Paul) O’Brien, Brian (late Lynn) Falasz, and the late Barry Falasz. Appreciated sister-in-law and aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Nancy had fond memories growing up with her family and grandparents. She graduated from Bogan High School (1976) where she met the best of friends and the love of her life. Nancy and Bob were married just weeks after she completed her Bachelors degree at Lewis University. Nancy was a dedicated nurse, serving Mercy Hospital for 20 years and then 23 years at Palos Community Hospital hospice and home health. She supported countless families through the loss of loved ones and gifted her family with sentiments of the way her work shaped her faith and the comfort that comes in reuniting with loved ones in eternal life.

As a mother and grandmother, Nancy was the ultimate matriarch. She demonstrated unconditional love and sacrifice for her family time after time. Nancy met every challenge and hardship with wisdom, fierce love, and protection. Through chronic pain and declining health, she never missed an opportunity to bring her family together to share meals and make memories. She led her family as keeper of traditions, example of resilience, and anchor of stability.

Nancy was blessed abundantly in family and friendship. She was a loyal friend and brought joy and humor wherever she went. She loved spending time with her lifelong friends and their now adult daughters. Just as she lived for a girls’ weekend or a dinner out with Bob, she cherished the comfort of spending the day at home with a good book, cooking, and enjoying her garden.

More than anything, Nancy loved spending time with each of her grandchildren. She sincerely adored each one and celebrated their unique personalities and interests. Her love for her grandchildren was matched by the pride she felt in watching her own children become parents. Her grandchildren are blessed with countless memories of her generosity, attention, and love.

Nancy’s husband and children will invite family and friends to join them in a celebration of her life at a later date.
