Myron Strepka

January 6, 1948 — April 30, 2025

Myron I. "Ron" Strepka, age 77, U.S. Marine Corps Scout Sniper Vietnam Veteran, passed away on April 30, 2025. Cherished Papa of Jordan (fiance Josh Buikema) Wenzel. Dear father of Arron and Cari Strepka. Preceded in death by his two brothers George and Raymond. Dear uncle of Angela, Charlene, and Michelle. Loving friend of Bob and Linda Buikema.

Ron lived a life marked by courage, humor, and deep devotion to the people and causes he held dear. Ron's service in the military was a role that demanded sharp focus and extraordinary bravery. His service continued long after his military years—he volunteered often for fellow veterans and sent supplies overseas to support active-duty Marines. One of his proudest moments came when he was honored on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., a tribute to his dedication and sacrifice and at last, a welcome home.

Ron's love for his country was matched only by his love for his community. He was the heart behind the Chicago White Sox’s Gold Star Family Night, an event he initiated to honor the families of fallen service members—a reflection of his unwavering commitment to standing up for others.

Those lucky enough to know Ron will remember his razor-sharp wit that could leave a room in tears of laughter, his mischievous joy in sneaking candy into horror movies, and the happiness he found in inspecting plants and secretly gathering their seeds to plant at his home. He could often be found riding his motorcycles, living life on his own terms.

When he cared for you, he cared with his whole heart—fiercely, selflessly, and without hesitation. When he loved you, he gave you everything. He will be forever missed and is loved beyond words.
