Michael John Janicek passed away peacefully at his home on May 31, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Janicek and Helen Janicek.
Mike was a devoted brother, uncle, and friend whose kindness, sense of humor, and love for his family touched all who knew him. He is survived by his sisters, Laura Kinsella (Dave), Julie Lehmann (Jay), and Carolyn Warren (Tom); his brothers, Frank Janicek (Patty) and Dave Janicek; his nieces, Jessica and Amanda; and his nephews, Ben, Nick, Andrew and Viktor. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss his presence.
Mike found great joy in fishing and treasured the time he spent with his family. Whether gathering for holidays, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying each other's company, he valued every moment shared with those he loved.
A lifelong Chicago sports fan, Mike proudly cheered for the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears through every season. His loyalty to his teams was matched only by his loyalty to his family and friends.
Mike will be remembered for his warm heart, steadfast spirit, and the countless jokes he told. Though he will be greatly missed, his legacy of love, laughter, and family devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
May he rest in peace.
