Michael B. Hanrahan

Michael Brendan Hanrahan, loved by many, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2024 at the age of 73. He was born on January 24, 1951 and raised in Ireland by parents Jack and Kathleen Hanrahan. Michael was a devoted, kind, and generous man. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. Michael became a United States citizen in 1985. Michael lived the true American dream by starting his career as a maintenance mechanic for Commonwealth Edison and working his way up to a plant manager. When Midwest Generation took over the coal fired power plants, he was promoted to a managing director. After retirement, you could find him on the golf course or spending time with his grandkids. Michael will be dearly missed by family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and son, Brendan Hanrahan. He is survived by: his loving wife, Maureen (nee Holly), daughter Bridget (Jeff) Jordan, daughter-in-law Kate Hanrahan, grandchildren Emmett and William Jordan and Declan and Quinn Hanrahan, brother Martin (Ann) Hanrahan, sister Ellen (Sean) Clancy, sister-in-law Elieen (Larry Ehretsman) Holly, brothers-in-law Bill (Sue) Holly, Chuck (Carrie) Holly, Kevin (Patti) Holly, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26 at St. Michael’s Church in Orland Park. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects at 10:30am until the time of the memorial mass at 11am. PLEASE OMIT FLOWERS. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Michael's memory will forever remain in our hearts, and he will be remembered for his warmth, love, and the profound impact he had on all who knew him. Rest in peace, Michael. You will be dearly missed but never forgotten. PLEASE OMIT FLOWERS.
