Melvin Schroeder

Melvin H. Schroeder, age 84, passed away May 5, 2024. Melvin was born in Great Bend, KS on October 25, 1939 to Pete and Irene Carl. He married his beloved wife Karen L. Schroeder (nee Birkes) on June 28, 1959. Melvin was the loving father of Lynda (Ed) Stencel, Suzanne Schroeder, Timothy (Diane) Schroeder and Nanci Griffin. He was the proud grandfather of Bryon (Erica) Teal, Veronica (Ryan) Sindelar and Mitchell Schroeder and dearest great-grandfather of Kailynn, Kamryn, Kaidyn and Karsyn Teal; and Dean Sindelar.

Melvin was a devout servant to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He received his first call to serve in Hong Kong in 1967 and faithfully served the church for 38 years. He was a teacher, Dean of Students and principal at Lutheran schools throughout the United States and abroad.

Visitation at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6850 W. 159th St., Tinley Park, IL on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Tinley Park, IL.
