Mary Rose Napoli, 87, of Blue Island / Midlothian, IL, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, peacefully at home with family by her side. She was born February 21, 1938, in Harvey, IL, the daughter of Frank Dominic and Edna Frederika (Schulz) Napoli. Mary was a devout Catholic and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church until its recent closure, the Carmelite Third Order, and the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima. She worked for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad until her retirement. Mary was a Catholic Catechist, preparing children for their Sacraments and preparing adults as Lay Carmelites. Through her ministry she touched hundreds of lives. She was a beloved teacher, friend, aunt and sister who is remembered for her wisdom, wit and great sense of humor.
Mary is survived by her two sisters, Grace Greiner of Midlothian IL, and Linda Jensen of Fennville, MI; two sisters-in-law, June Napoli of Oak Forest, IL, and Judith Napoli of Buffalo Grove, IL; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edna; eight siblings, Phyllis (Daniel) Sullivan, Eugene (Goldie) Napoli, Nancy Napoli, Marjorie (Michael) Cistaro, Janet (Paul) Schade, Charles Napoli, Frank Napoli and John (Patricia Banovich) Napoli; and two brothers-in-law Glen Greiner and Charles Jensen.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Maher Funeral Home. Prayers will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the funeral home then processing for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Damian Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow the service in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
