Marjorie Beukema Metcalf, nee Nieubuurt, age 85, longtime Fontana, WI resident, passed away Friday February 4, 2011 at Lakeland Health Care Center, Elkhorn, WI. Beloved wife of the late George Beukema Sr. (1963) and the late Robert Metcalf (1979). Loving mother of George Beukema, Jr. of Walworth, WI and Sherry (Rick) Glau of Arcadia, FL. Cherished grandmother of Matthew G. Beukema, Alexis Pitsch, and Lindsey V. Beukema. Dearest great-grandmother of Hunter Gilliam. Fond sister of Frances (late William) Smith and the late John E. (Beatrice) Nieubuurt and Edward J. (Bette) Nieubuurt. Fond sister-in-law of the late Jen (late Rev. John) Weidenaar, Jeanette Beukema, Gertrude (late Edward Sr.) Damstra, Betty (late Jay Sr.) Van Dahm, Grace (late Bud) Tiggelaar and Evelyn Van Dahm. Dear aunt of many wonderful nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Monday, February 7, 2011, 1:00 p.m. at Fairmount-Willow Hills Cemetery in Willow Springs, Illinois. (104th Ave.) at 1:00 p.m. At the age of 36 , upon the death of her husband and Funeral Director, George, in 1963, Marjorie Beukema became a licensed funeral director and assumed the ownership of the Chicago area Beukema Funeral Homes, originally established in 1939 by her late husband. Marjorie served as a former president of the Chicago Southwest Christian Business Women's organization. She sold the funeral homes in 1978 and retired to Fontana, WI. A former resident of Palos Heights, IL Marjorie later married Robert K. Metcalf of Lake Geneva, WI. Mr.Metcalf died in 1979. Memorials can be made to Providence Life Services.
