Lynn Marie Hendrickson went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2024. A young girl was born on November 2nd 1941, to a mother Sylvia who was a secretarial typist and a father Ray who taught Electrical Engineering at Illinois Institute of Electronics. Her father Ray also worked part time as a mail guard for the railroad. This young girl lost her father at a young age as did two brothers, John and George. This tragedy did not keep her from becoming a top student and winning the Legion of Honor as well as National Honor Society in her teen years. It was during this time that she was to meet her future husband Ray. Her desire was to always enter nursing, but was persuaded to rather take a career as a secretary stenographer at which she excelled and was in demand. Her boyfriend at this time decided to enter the Navy both to fulfill the draft obligation and begin a career in electronics. At the completion of boot camp and the beginning of electronics school she decided that her star was hitched to traveling with her boyfriend in the Navy. The young couple now 19 decided to wed in spite of the objections of parents, friends and the Navy who preferred that they wait. The couple did indeed marry on October 29th 1960. Following her now husband to Norfolk, Virginia and then Bayonne, New Jersey. During this time she survived on very low income, often eating leftovers from caring for a neighbor's child and receiving forty dollar a month stipend from the Navy. Also at this time she bore a son Scott. Following the Navy was tough times. Two more children were born after the Navy, Susan and Christine. The family struggled as her husband tried to establish himself in a career, take electronics schooling and find decent affordable places to live. Tough financial and stressful times were ahead as they lived through a period of alcoholism and depression and alienation from God. In spite of this alienation God provided the rock on which they could lean and delivered them both from this lifestyle. Following this difficult period both found a deep faith and relationship with Jesus and became very involved in ministry. As the children grew older she found an opportunity to become a patient care partner or nurse assistant in a hospital. This career spanned 25 years until sidelined by an injury. Throughout this time she worked with the church, helped her husband as a pastor's wife for a time, worked summers in a Christian family camp, traveled across the United States and raised three children two of whom would become college graduates. One had a career in nuclear medicine and one in special need clients and one who became head clerk in a local post office. We had threefold marriage, Lynn, myself and Jesus bound together until the end!
Lynn is survived by her husband of almost 64 years Ray Hendrickson, children Scott (Terri) Hendrickson, Susan (late Gerrit) Jager and Christine Robison, grandchildren Jessica (Steve) Story, Adam (Megan) Hendrickson, Emily (Tristan) Whitaker, step-grandchildren Jennifer Jager, Gary Jager, Kim (Randy) Cook, Christopher (Magenta) Jager, Richard Jager, Elizabeth Jager and Stephanie (Keith) Lee, great-grandchildren Teddy, Leo and Adler Hendrickson, Soon-to-be Baby Whitaker, numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, brothers John (Sharon) Molton and George (Jean) Molton, cousin Linda Stearns, sister-in-law Eleanor (Bob) Mininni, numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
