Great-granddaughter Kellyn shares her thoughts of her G.G.--"Louise lived the most incredible life, surrounded by and emanating love everywhere she went. She grew up on the south side of Chicago during the Prohibition and Depression, she raised her kids during WWII, traveled the United States and the rest of the world, didn't stop driving until she was 93, didn't retire from Peace Memorial Church until she was 96 (but still went and helped out during the week until a few months ago), and didn't start using a walker or cane until she was 100. She got a letter from the President when she turned 100 (probably a form letter, but it was still great!). She never had a bad word for anyone, and no one had one for her. She was full of wisdom ("How is your skin so great at 102?" "Soap and water." - "How'd you live so long?" "I woke up and put my feet on the floor every day." - "How'd you get that mosquito to stop bothering you?" "I told it to go someplace else." - "How are you?" "Fat and sassy!"), but also knew when words weren't needed. She was generous and thoughtful and kind. She spent two weeks with everyone in Michigan every year, helping us appreciate sunsets. She came to our family days at school, she never missed a band or choir concert or recital or musical or play if she could help it (Piazza peeps, she loved it, especially the hairstyles- she did pincurls too!). She did an AMA on reddit that got the attention of thousands of people (https://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1ka8kp/iama_99_year_old_woman_who_helped_her_mother_make/) and even the Huffington Post (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/14/reddit-ama-99-year-old n 3757406.html). I could go on for ages about her. We'll miss her so much, especially her love." Express your thoughts and condolences at colonialchapel.com 708-532-5400
