Leonard George "Len" Bruinius, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home March 8, 2025, walking straight into the arms of his heavenly Father. Beloved husband of 60 years to Patricia, nee DeKreek. Loving father to Lori (Lambert) Kamp, Susan (James) Kamp, Kathy (Peter) Reiselt, Jennifer (Steve) Ritsema, and Matthew (Kerri) Bruinius. Cherished grandfather to 19 and great-grandfather to 13. Dearest brother of Judy (late Bill) Meyer and the late Pearl (late Marvin) Vis, the late William (late Ella) Bruinius and the late LaVerne (John) Yff. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Leonard loved his family and his moments of greatest joy were spent surrounded by his family at his home in Palos Heights and in St. Germain, Wisconsin where the family created many happy memories together. Leonard was fully devoted to his Lord and Savior and spent his life modeling a servant heart through volunteering and serving others. He was active with the Lions both in St. Germain, Wisconsin and in Palos Heights, Illinois. He served many hours at Together We Cope in Tinley Park. He also spent countless hours serving the church and school in various capacities.
Visitation Friday, March 14, 2025 from 3:00-8:00PM at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Lying in State Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Orland Park Christian Reformed Church, 7500 Sycamore Dr., Orland Park, IL from 9:00AM until time of Funeral Service at 10:00AM. Interment Fairmount-Willow Hills Memorial Park, Willow Springs, IL.
