Larry Palmer, 73, passed away after courageously battling cancer. Beloved husband of 50 years to Maureen (nee' O'Reilly); loving father of Kevin (Kelly), John and the late Timothy (Julie); loved and proud Papa to Aiden, Harrison, Sadie and Addison; cherished brother of Peggy and the late Dan Rubino, Jean (Tom) Didominick and William (Carol) Palmer; loving son of the late Ethel Palmer and son-in-law to the lateEileen and John O'Reilly; loving brother-in-law to Eileen and Mike Tyrell, Mary and the late Joseph Kosiak, Tom and Nanci O'Reilly; favorite uncle to 15 nieces and nephews; loving nephew to Louis and the late Josephine Perillo; loving cousin to John, Mike, Skip and the late Tom Perillo.
Larry was a proud Army veteran who served his country, church and community. Larry expressed his love of church by volunteering as both Eucharistic administrator and usher at St. George and St. Julie with an accumulated 44 years. He proudly was an Honor Guard, volunteer and member of Tinley Park's VFW post. Through his love for his sons, he was a volunteer Tinley Park Park District baseball coach and scout leader for 18 years. Larry's genuine love, kindness and laughter will be missed but not forgotten by many. Memorial Visitation Wednesday, July 24th, 3-8pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm for Larry and his late son Timothy (Deacon Ed Pluchar, officiant). Funeral Thursday, July 25th. Attendees kindly asked to meet at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at 10:00am for a US Army "white glove" Honor Guard Committal Service, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, Il. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Research Hospital greatly appreciated.
