Kathleen Canene

Kathleen D. "Kit" Canene, nee Dorris, age 93, passed away peacefully at Whispering Pines Senior Living Facility in Raleigh, NC. Formerly of Tinley Park and Dolton, IL. Beloved wife of the late Thomas S. Canene (1996). Loving mother of Kathy Canene Kidd (Robert) and Paula Canene Vorel (Timothy). Cherished grandmother of Kristen K. Oakley (Zack) and Nicole Vorel (fiance Mike). Dearest great-grandmother of Adelaide Winn Oakley. Fond sister of the late Artance Schweitzer, Lucille Handy and Phauneil Dunn. Dear aunt of Candy Cardin, Donna Dunkin, Robin Bloch, Albert Dunn and Patti Nelson. After receiving her B.A. and Master's Degree in Special Education she taught for 30 years in Orland Park and South Holland, IL where she was a much loved and respected teacher. She was a member of several professional organizations. Some of her favorite memories were the times she spent swimming in oceans and lakes, golfing with her late husband Tom, and traveling across the U.S. She also enjoyed creating many needlepoint projects and reading her Bible. Former member of Lorimer Baptist Church and current member of First Baptist Church of Tinley Park.
