Karye Slager

Karye Lynn Slager, nee Johnson, age 56, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on June 22, 2024. Beloved wife for 34 years to Bill Slager. Loving mother of Ryan (Corrine), Billy, and Ben (Abby) Slager. Cherished grandmother "Nona" of Sadie and Jack; Eleanor and Amelia. Devoted daughter of Tena and the late Dennis Johnson. Dear sister of Kelly (John) Ramey and the late Keith Johnson. Fond daughter-in-law of John and Madeline Slager. Dear sister-in-law of John (Jeanette), Dean (Laura), Randy (Nicki), Jeff (Jill), Todd (Becky) Slager and Lori (late David) Wenzel. Dearest aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Known for her radiant smile and photogenic gaze, Karye was a perpetually happy and optimistic person with a charming sense of humor. She was a woman of goodwill who had an uncanny ability to make a fast friend in minutes. She was the quintessential mother with a gentle demeanor and strong, quiet faith. Most of all, she loved her family and friends, and children in general, lived a model marriage, and was a perfect example of unconditional love to all those around her.

Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 2:00PM - 6:00PM with a service to celebrate Karye's life to follow at 6:00PM at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL.
