Joseph Leo Regan, 79, formerly of Orland Hills, passed away on 1/6/25. Cherished husband of Joanne (nee Graf) for 55 years; loving son of his late parents Patrick Joseph and Mary Pauline (nee Wemple); beloved father of Joe (Jennifer), Dan (Meg), Ken (Erin), Tim (Jenna); preceded in death by his son Marty (Kelly, son-in-law Sean Lyons); adored grandfather (Pops) of Jack, Sarah, Kate, Grace, Ben, Luke, Micah, Brynne, Leo, and Cora; loving brother of Jim (Donna) and Paulette (James) Havlin; caring brother-in-law of Fran Warner, Ron Graf, Judy (Swede) Larson, Charlie (Jennifer) Graf, Gloria (Dan) Coughlin, Christine Arvans; preceded in death by in-laws Carol Graf-Leake and Joe Graf; fond uncle to many nieces and nephews, loving cousin to many more.
Joe attended University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, graduated from Worsham School of Mortuary Science, licensed funeral director and skilled trade embalmer who owned Regan Funeral Services for 35 years.
Joe was an avid soccer fan who enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren compete in all sports and activities; loved most Chicago sports teams, original Chicago Cardinals fan turned Green Bay Packers enthusiast and single shareholder.
Joe passed away from a heart attack at home after enduring five years of dementia, he remained gentle, kind, and funny until the end. He began life as a faithful altar boy, and his lasting good-bye greeting to all is, “keep the faith.”
Visitation Saturday, January 11, 2025, 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Blessings at 6:00pm from the Maher Funeral Home (17101 S. 71st Ave., Tinley Park, IL 60487). Joe has chosen cremation. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joe’s name (Joseph L. Regan) to Misericordia and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital .
