Joseph Raftery

Joseph L. Raftery Jr. – Beloved son of the late Joseph L. Raftery Sr. and Catherine A. Raftery, and devoted husband of the late Patricia A. Raftery.  He is also survived by his loving partner, Catherine “Kate” Sibley.  Devoted father of Joseph “Jay” J. Raftery, the late Brian P. Raftery, Kevin M. Raftery, Jennifer L. Raftery, and Sean T. Raftery (Elisabeth Raftery). Loving brother of Edward Raftery (Karen Raftery and devoted husband of the late Linda Raftery), Margaret O’Malley (William O’Malley), and Raymond Raftery (Patricia Raftery). Dear Uncle of Jamison Raftery, Dawn Raftery, Colin Raftery (Jamie Raftery), Bridget Raftery (devoted wife of the late Ward Cridland), Timothy O’Malley (Cortney O’Malley), Mary O’Malley, and Nora O’Malley.  Loving Great-Uncle of Jameson “Junior”, Samantha, Rori, Kayla, Brecken, Eren and Kaia.

A visitation will be held at Maher Funeral Home 17101 71st Ave Tinley Park, IL 60477 on December 17, 2024 from 3PM – 8PM, with funeral services following at St. Rita of Cascia Parish 6243 South Fairfield Ave. Chicago, IL 60629 on December 18, 2024 at 11:30am.

A Proud veteran, Joseph L. Raftery Jr., lived a life of service, dedication, and love for his family and country.  He will be deeply missed by all who know him.

To honor his memory and his dedication to veterans, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Honor Flight Chicago.
