Janet C. Solle Campbell

December 31, 1935 — October 3, 2026

Jan was born on December 31, 1935. She grew up in the Chicago suburbs where she met her first husband Rich Solle. The high school sweethearts married in 1955 and over the next decades ran various businesses together and raised their four beloved children. A favorite place for Jan and her family was Silver Lake, Michigan where they built a cottage. Her subtle humor and ability to laugh at herself came out during many campfires, card games, and piles of shoes.

In 2010 she and Rich retired to Florida where they enjoyed sunsets and beach walks. Jan lovingly and faithfully cared for Rich through several years of Alzheimer’s Disease until he passed away in 2013.

Love found Jan again, and she and former resident Bob Campbell enjoyed 7 happy years of marriage together before he passed away in 2023. Bob is the reason Jan became a Buckeyes fan.

During her last few years at Arbor Trace her family encouraged her return to the Midwest, but she loved her community, view, and amazing cuisine here. (Her family regularly received phone calls describing her 5-star dinners and gulf sunsets during their long Midwest winters.) She also loved being a member of Arbor Lake Singers, participating in many committees and activities, and knitting Prayer Shawls for cancer patients. What she looked forward to most, though, was family visits. She was recently blessed for her 90th birthday to have all 33 members of her family here, including her kids, in-laws, grandkids, and great grandkids.

She loved the Lord, and we know that she is not gone, but simply gone ahead of us. Her kind, simple, humble, gracious character (and her dimpled smile) will be greatly missed though. Her family sincerely thanks the Arbor Trace community for bringing her such joy and care.

Beloved wife of the late Richard Solle (2013), and the late Robert Campbell (2023). Loving mother of Cheryl (Tom) Vloedman, Lori (Terry) Matthuis, Thomas (Carla) Solle and Sandra (Jeff) Bultema. Cherished grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of ten. Dearest sister of John (Jan) DeVries. Janet enjoyed a close and loving relationship with Robert’s Son Stephen (Julie) Campbell.

A private graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Gardens South Cemetery, Oak Lawn, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sheboygan Christian School or Chicago Christian Schools appreciated.
