"Big Jim" Voorhees

James E. “Big Jim” Voorhees, age 60, beloved husband to Joanna, nee Zelek. Loving father of Ava and James, Jr. Devoted son of Mildred (Borner) Voorhees and the late James Voorhees. Dearest brother of Kevin Voorhees. Dear brother-in-law of Lorraine Mares, Lenore (Mike) Moser-O’Meara, Lisa (Zachary) Johnson and Jamie (late Ryan) Haran. Fond uncle and cousin of many. Jim will also be missed by countless gearhead friends.

Big Jim was a man who "knew everything" and was called upon many times by his family and friends to fix or figure out almost anything. He was always ready to help out. Big Jim was most at home in his pole barn and enjoyed the simple pleasures of tinkering, building and creating. He took joy in driving on road trips, exploring new places with curiosity and a steady hand. He had a big heart and cared deeply for those around him. He will be missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.

Visitation Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 1-6 p.m. with a Funeral Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. To celebrate Big Jim's laid back spirit and to honor his memory please wear jeans, relaxed shirts like bowling shirts automobile or hot rod apparel or other easy going attire. Interment private.
