Jacqueline Gammonley

Jacqueline passed away on September 27, 2026, at the age of 86, under a night lit-up with a spectacular Harvest Moon – a fitting farewell!

Born November 7, 1939, to Martin and Josephine Slattery, she was the oldest of three sisters who she adored – the late Patty (George) Little, Kathy (Glen) Polzin, and Debi (Mike) Sears.

Jackie was the beloved wife of the late George, who was taken from her far too soon. His passing left her to raise their five children on her own. She taught them that love isn’t always expressed with grand gestures. Sometimes it’s getting up early, working the night shift, and putting dinner on the table. She sacrificed, always showed up, and persevered.

Jackie was the proud mother to Terry (Diane) Gammonley, Laurie (Kevin) Burke, Kevin (Angela) Gammonley, Brian Gammonley, and Jennifer Guzy. She was a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren: Nicholas, Zachary, Gina, Brendan, Kyle, Lana, Jenna, Emma, Michael, and Matthew. Great-grandmother to Jettson, Callum, Bennett, Parker, Grace, and Penelope (and more to come)!

Family was her greatest accomplishment. Her sisters-in-law, the late Joan, the late Susan, and Marilyn were irreplaceable! She was a lover of big family dinners, Lithuanian dumplings, Saugany Lake, cottage life, golf cart rides, Scrabble, LCR, ceramics, Gummy Bears, and Judge Judy.

She had her opinions and she wasn’t’ afraid to share them, and she wouldn’t have it any other way!

Family will receive relatives and friends at St. Barnabas Church, 10134 S. Longwood Dr., Chicago, IL 60643 on Thursday, October 22, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment private at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, IL.
