Irma Smith

Irma Tyler Smith, age 99, beloved wife of the late Robert Smith (1959). Loving mother of Tyler (Barbara) Smith and the late Mark (Laura) Smith. Cherished grandmother of Justin (Teresa) Smith, Amber (fiancé Ryan Roznowski) Smith; Heidi (Tim) Lavorato, Tracy (Eric) Deakins and Jeremy Smith. Dear sister of the late Caryl Lee Johnson (George). Dearest aunt of Heather (Jonah) Lucas and Candace (David) Schneckenburger and their families.

Irma took over her late husband’s wholesale candy business in 1959. After it was sold, she worked in various positions in the medical field, until retirement at age 94.

Lifelong Cubs fan, Irma, was always dressed to impress and ready for a party. Despite her busy social life, she always made time for family and never missed any of her five grandchildren’s events. Irma was a crossword enthusiast, avid needlepointer and golfer throughout her life. She had a love of nature and animals, with a special place in her heart for birds and dogs.

Visitation Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon with a Memorial Service to follow at 12:00 Noon at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Burial private at Mt. Greenwood Cemetery, Chicago, IL.
