Henry “Hank” Achterhof, age 95, WWII U.S. Army Veteran, recipient of Purple Heart and four Bronze Battle Stars. Beloved husband of the late Irene Achterhof, nee DeVries (1999). Loving father of Ronald (Theresa) Achterhof, the late Arlene (Thomas) McLaughlin and the late Andrew Achterhof. Cherished grandfather and great-grandfather of many. Survived by his sister Gertrude Engstrom and preceded in death by seven siblings. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. Member of the Izaak Walton League for over 30 years. Retired from the Chicago Park District. Visitation Thursday, September 18, 2014, from 3-9 PM.
