Helen (Kolegas) Dolan

Surrounded by her beautiful family and caregivers, Helen Kolegas Dolan, 83, died peacefully in her home on January 16, 2018.  Beloved wife of the late James Robert Dolan, Sr (Ret CPD and Veteran U.S.M.C.). for 58 years. Devoted and adored mother of Jeanne (Mark Grohovena, Ret CPD), James (Anne), Janet (Dolly), Martin, Mary (Dave) Howicz, and Christine Dolan Atkins. Loving grandmother of James Dolan III (Lauren), Emily (Brian) Whalen, Andrew, Nicholas, and Sean Dolan, Garret and Elena Howicz, and John Robert Atkins.  Great grandmother of Eleanor, James Robert IV, and Olivia Dolan and Luke, Molly, and Morgan Whalen.  Sister-in-law of Mary Jean (deceased) and Jim Salach, Phil and Peg Graham, Michael and Maureen Lavin, Martin and Kim Dolan, Michael and Kathleen Dolan, and Nancy Dolan.  Survived by over forty cherished nieces and nephews. Her parents, Andrew (Papou) and Aristea (Yiayia) Kolegas, and sister, Virginia Kolegas Kelly, preceded her in death.

Helen was a lifelong resident of Chicago and a graduate of Calumet High School. After raising her six children, Helen worked for the Chicago Catholic newspaper. A fantastic cook, Helen enjoyed travel, long phone conversations, and lunch with the girls.  She cherished every moment spent with her dear family.

Visitation Friday, January 19, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.. Funeral Saturday, January 20, at 10:00 a.m. from Maher Funeral Home (7051 W. 171st St, Tinley Park) to St. Christina Church (3300 W. 111th St, Chicago) for Mass at 11:00 a.m..  Internment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery immediately following.
