With love we announce the passing of Harold A. Van Drie at the age of 97. He was surrounded by family as he departed to heaven. A dedicated husband for 68 years to his late wife Elsie H. Van Drie, nee Schoonveld (2024). Their devotion, anchored by their faith in our Lord and Savior, is a lasting testament. He was a humble man, caring, dependable, and sincere. Generous with his time and wisdom, he served others and prayed without ceasing.
Loving father of Barbara Van Drie, Brian (Denise) Van Drie, Beverly (David) Hughes and Glenn (Jean) Van Drie. Cherished grandfather of Jacob and Joshua Van Drie; Matthew, Anna and Joseph Hughes; Emma Van Drie-Heitritter (Thomas), Luke and Nathan Van Drie. Dear brother of Eva (late Daniel) Schutte and the late Bernard (late Marlene) Van Drie. Preceded in death by his parents Arie and Anna (nee Bouma) Van Drie. Dear brother-in-law of Joyce (late Robert) Garbacz, the late Shirley (late Benjamin) Scholtens and the late Robert (Lois) Schoonveld. Fond uncle, cousin and friend of many. Harold was raised on a small family farm in northwest Iowa and built his family in the Chicago area.
