Geurt Van Hal

Geurt Van Hal, age 92, beloved husband for 63 years to Carolyn, nee Rinsema. Loving father of Carol Browne. Cherished grandfather of Emily and David Browne. Dear brother of Evelyn (late Jim) Vanden Oever, Cornelius "Cornie" (Marinella) Van Hal, Darlene (Glenn) Summers, Nancy (Carl) Jensen, and the late Sophie (late Don) Bennink, Jenny Van Hal, Gerrit (Shirley) Van Hal, Raymond (Ruth) Van Hal, Jerry (Darlene) Van Hal, and infant sister Helene. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Geurt met Carolyn while attending Calvin College and graduated from there in 1954. They were married in 1956. Geurt worked in the insurance industry for his entire career. He faithfully served as a deacon at Kedvale CRC in Chicago, IL and an elder at Newton CRC in Newton, IA, Park Lane CRC in Evergreen Park, IL, and Orland Park CRC in Orland Park, IL. Geurt worked for many years with The Gideons International, served on the Southwest Chicago Christian School Foundation Committee, and was an active member of the Chicago Chapter of Calvin Alumni.

Visitation Friday, February 28, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 12:00 Noon at Colonial Chapel, 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. Burial private at Orland Memorial Park Cemetery, Orland Park, IL.
