George V. DeChene

April 9, 1959 — April 8, 2026

George Vernon DeChene, Jr., age 66, passed away on April 8, 2026, just one day shy of his birthday. He was born on April 9, 1959 in Hazel Crest, IL.

George was, above all, a loving father and grandfather. He shared a special bond with his daughters, Briana (Paul) Stanley and Kacie (William) McDonald, and took great pride in the lives they built. Nothing brought him more joy than being “Papa George” to Ethan, Cole, and Cody. His love for his family was simple and deeply felt.

He is also survived by his brothers, Thomas DeChene and John DeChene, and his sister, Bonnie Hall (Andrew Sword), along with many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George DeChene Sr. and Elaine (Vogel) DeChene; his sister, Mary Ann Randol; and his brothers, Paul DeChene and Charles “Joe” DeChene.

George spent his career as a forklift mechanic, doing the kind of hands-on work he truly enjoyed. He had a love for motorcycles and cars. Whether it was the sound of an engine, time spent tinkering, or the feeling of the open road, those moments meant the most to him.

He will be remembered for his love of family and friends and the many memories he created with those closest to him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Nothing but love.
