George L. Chavez, age 70, of Manhattan, IL, passed away peacefully at his vacation home in Florida on March 29, 2024. Beloved husband for 40 years to Dawn Chavez, nee Disabato. Loving father of Marissa Chavez and David (Ashley) Chavez. Cherished grandfather of Elijah and Alora. Devoted son of the late Manuel Chavez and the late Melivia (late Joseph) Botano. Dear brother of Joe (Debbie) Chavez and the late Jessie (Georganna) Chavez. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews. Fond son-in-law of Rudy and Evie Disabato. Kind brother-in-law of Dee (Wayne) Gedutis.
George's journey from a radiology technician to a registered nurse, then joining the US Army Reserve and becoming a volunteer firefighter in Tinley Park, IL, demonstrated his unwavering commitment to serving others. Eventually, George retired as a nurse and became a pharmaceutical representative, utilizing his healthcare background in a new way. George was also active at his church serving as a deacon and a cadet counselor.
